Startup&Angels is an interactive after-work event that has been connecting startup founders, entrepreneurs, investors & business angels for over 4 years all over Asia-Pacific and beyond with 40+ physical events.
After a first attempt in April 2020 – cancelled for the pandemic – Startup&Angels is finally coming in South Australia for a first exciting panel event in Adelaide!
During this event, you will:
– Discover 3 successful scale-up and their inspiring founders (6min presentation with a focus on fundraising + 4min interactive Q&A with the audience)
– Learn deeper about the investment landscape post-COVID-19 from investors, experienced founders and government officers

* Flavia Tata Nardini – Founder and CEO @Fleet
Flavia Tata Nardini began her career at the European Space Agency as a Propulsion Test Engineer. She then joined TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research to work on advanced space propulsion projects. In 2015, Flavia co-founded Fleet, a connectivity company set to maximise the resource efficiency of human civilisation through low cost, low power remote massive IoT. Fleet launched four of over 100 planned nanosatellites in 2018, enabling the next industrial revolution with a free, ubiquitous connectivity platform.
* Oli Madgett – Founder @Platfarm
Oli has a family vineyard in the McLaren Vale wine region and is the co-founder of AgTech start-up Platfarm. Additionally, Oli runs Adelaide AgTech meet-ups, is a member of the AgriFutures Ignite Panel and has extensive history in the digital and IT space in South Australia and overseas. Oli is also an AgTech mentor and has used his vineyard for tech trials, including with the University of Adelaide.
* Brenton Cooper – Co-founder & CEO @Fivecast
Dr Brenton Cooper is Co-founder and CEO of Fivecast. He is responsible for driving innovation in the security industry through the application of world leading data science techniques. Brenton was formerly CTO of the Data To Decisions CRC, a $100 million collaborative research initiative to address data analysis challenges facing Australia’s national security agencies. His PhD is from a long time ago… when neural networks were first popular.

* David Rohrsheim – Managing Partner @Artesian Investments
David is a Portfolio Manager with the SA VC Fund. David was previously the General Manager (Australia & NZ) and opened Uber’s operations in Australia in 2012. Prior to that he spent 5 years in San Francisco working with DFJ, a top tier VC fund, and studying for an MBA at Stanford University.
*Judy Halliday – COO @OSACE
Judy has more than 25 years’ executive and management experience in entrepreneurship and innovation as an inventor, founder, investor, academic and industry professional in the private and public sectors. She has published in academic peer reviewed journals and has been a successful applicant in competitive grant programs as both an academic researcher and as an industry partner. She is an inventor on granted patents and has been involved in raising millions of dollars for multiple start-up companies. She has negotiated multi-million-dollar licensing transactions and collaboration agreements in the development of early stage technologies.
*Leanna Read – Angel investor @Southern Angels
Dr Leanna Read is long-standing Angel investor through current membership of Southern Angels, as well as its predecessor, BioAngels, since its inception in 2002. She brings extensive experience on boards that address innovation across government, industry and research organisations, particularly in the biotechnology sector. She is currently chair of biotechnology companies, Carina Biotech Pty Ltd and TekCyte Pty Ltd and a board member of Biosensis Pty Ltd. Other current appointments include the boards of Uniseed Venture Capital and the Federal Government Biomedical Translation Fund Committee, as well as chair of Health Translation SA and the SA Government AgTech Advisory Group. Leanna completed a four-year term as Chief Scientist for South Australia in 2018 and was the founding Managing Director and CEO of Adelaide biotechnology company, TGR BioSciences Pty Ltd from 2001 to 2012.
