Michael Batko

Head of Operations @Startmate

Michael started as a business student following the traditional path into consulting and corporate life (Amex, PwC, KPMG) but then fell in love with the startup world growing two start-ups from a team of 2 to 5 (MadPaws) and 10 to 50+ (Expert360), including a $AUD 13M Series B capital raise. He decided to help lots of startups grow their business, rather than just work on one and joined Startmate as Head of Operations.

At Startmate, we invest in extraordinary founders who are changing the way we work, live and play, and we’re powered by the most successful entrepreneurs and venture capitalists in Australia. Startmate’s world-class community of mentors and alumni are scaling businesses from the first dollar to the next billion, and we share that knowledge through our 12-week accelerator program, 1:1 bespoke coaching and in-person events.

Fiona Boyd

Founder and CEO @EdSmart

A former ABC broadcaster, Fiona is one of Australia’s earliest and most successful start-up entrepreneurs. In 2000 she co-founded Arts Hub, and grew the business to a paid subscriber base of 10,000+. Fiona also co-founded sister site, Screen Hub and various other online businesses, including REmessenger, a social platform for real estate agents, which sold to partners in Silicon Valley. She’s passionate about using technology to empower relationships and a greater good.

EdSmart is an award winning Australian start-up helping school communities evolve by strengthening work processes and governance. EdSmart’s industry-leading School Organisation System (SOS) automates data capture, simplifies communication and modernise processes so educators, parents and students can ditch the admin and get back to what matters most. Across 1 million users and 8 countries, EdSmart is redefining and liberating school communities globally.

Bill Rutten

Co-Founder and Head of Community @Twospace

Bill has a background in Economics with Masters in innovation and sustainability. He soon discovered that his true passion lies with entrepreneurship, this is the way to change the game. It wasn’t until he had traveled the world and landed in Australia that he became hungry and foolish enough to start a project of his own. Ecoshift was born. Bill has since worked as an innovation consultant, ran a startup accelerator and started a project called Food Hero that tackles food waste with a business model. These days he is Head of Community and Co-Founder at TwoSpace. Growing the community while creating a world class culture is where his head is at.

TwoSpace turns underutilized spaces like cafes and hotels into a network of affordable and unique co-working communities. With a fast growing trend of people working remotely & from home, we’ve created a solution so anyone can access a co-working space. With numerous success stories among members, we’re creating the go-to Startup hub for early stage founders.
